Hey, I’m Sabina

These are my vans!

Sabina and her vans

My husband and I are on a journey to live a part time van life with our 4 kids. I love to write about

  • Cool Car Gear and Gadgets
  • Finding Adventure with the Whole Family
  • Roadschooling and Homeschooling
  • Finding Freedom to be Family

My ultimate goal here is to inspire and equip you to bring your family on adventures in your van! Road trips, overnights, festivals, and 3 day weekends! I want you to feel ready, like Hermione with that little bag in The Deathly Hollows. I know, it gives me goosebumps too.

My Story

Like you I had lots of dreams and ideas about what my motherhood days would look like. During my 4th pregnancy the situation became dire in my heart. I was longing for rich days, rich relationships and food that didn’t come out of a box. I was constantly fighting with my husband. I felt so trapped, unable to communicate the deep disappointment I was feeling.

I turned to my husband and said, “I need adventure.” The kind of adventure I was longing for was not going to happen with my husband at his demanding job, on a completely different schedule, 2 weeks of vacation every other year. Limping along trying to give a rich education to my kids, struggling to create beauty in my home and heart.

Now my husband was born and raised in the Show Me state

He was not interested in hearing about all my dreams and plans when he was just putting his head down paying the bills. He would listen politely and then say, “Yea, that would be great.” I knew that the wonderful, musical, deeply spiritual man that I married was in there, drowning in the mundane.

I needed to change our lives drastically.

I had a friend who had started reselling vintage Levis and I was watching his YouTube channel, \support your friends, and I decided to devote the next 12 months to doing my best to replace his income. I was watching Jamerill’s Channel and she talked about “bringing her husband home.” If she could do it, it could be done and I was going to figure it out.

So here I am, figuring it out.

I needed to find a way to make the days rich and satisfy my big dreams.

While we are waiting for the day when he doesn’t have to drive a truck anymore, we are finding adventure in the in between times.

  • 3 Day Weekends
  • Family Dinner Time
  • Car Camping
  • Van Life in the Everyday
  • Normal days full of Adventure
  • So that is what I do here.

I started Mom Van Up right before Christmas 2020 as a way to claw my way out of the rut we were in. We had all of our normal schedules upset and we had lost a lot of our normal traditions and anchors in our lives. I knew that I was not the only one who was struggling to find new adventures and create new meaningful traditions. I knew that I could help other moms get out of this terrible rut and enjoy the freedom of part time van life.
