Heating Food In the Hot Logic: Containers for Meal Prep

I use my hot logic every day and I have used a variety of containers to heat the food. Most days I use a round glass container, but when I have delicious leftovers from take out, I have used plastic containers and even tinfoil!

When heating food in the Hot Logic you can use tinfoil to wrap food and place it right on the heating plate. Be careful to protect your hands when you remove the food from the Hot Logic, it will be very hot. Plastic and glass food containers are better for wet food and also fit very well in the Hot Logic.

I tend to use glass pyrex containers most days when I use the Hot Logic, it is heatproof and fis really well in the Hot Logic Mini. I use the 3 cup and 6 cup rectangular containers.

You should really match the food to the container.

When I have bread, rolls or other dryer foods I wrap them in tinfoil.

In this picture I had some leftovers from an Italian restaurant. I put the takeout container in my Hot Logic, then I put the Garlic Knots wrapped in foil on top.

It was a really delicious lunch and the knots were warm and soft.

Frozen foods that come in cardboard boxes like pot pies, frozen meals or frozen appetizers are great when heated right in their box.

If you are looking for some crunch, you can heat things directly on the plate. I have not done this much, but my husband uses his like a hot plate! He has even cooked a steak on the plate.

Be sure to wash the plate with a washcloth as soon as it is cool enough to do so.

If you need some inspiration for Hot Logic meals, check out my lunch ideas for kids. We use this thing all the time.

Foods That Heat Well with Foil in the Hot Logic

These things will heat well when wrapped in foil in the Hot Logic:

Rolls

Sandwiches

Garlic Knots

Cinnamon Roll

Muffin

Ham Rolls

Pop Tarts and Toaster Strudel

Doughnuts

Pizza

Dry foods that you would warm up in the microwave, will do great wrapped in foil in the Hot Logic.

Foods to Avoid Wrapping in Foil for the Hot Logic

Wet foods will not do well if wrapped in foil. Foods heated in the Hot Logic are in there for hours and anything that can seep out, will seep out.

Lasagna

Casseroles

Pot Pie

Raw Meat

Vegetables

I know some of this seems really obvious, but these are the foods that we regularly eat out of our Hot Logic Mini and they do not work when wrapped in foil.

It is pretty difficult to clean the Hot Logic soft case. After two years of near daily use, my husband’s Hot Logic is SO DIRTY. He was not careful to keep any wet foods contained.

I keep mine cleaner and never put wet things directly on the plate, and mine still looks pretty new.

Every morning when I get to work the first thing I do is plug in the Hot Logic so I will have a hot lunch whenever I get a few minutes.

Is Hot Logic Mini Good for a Family?

The  Hot Logic has been really helpful for my big family. We live rurally so we eat on the road a lot. I want to be able to save money and give my kids healthy food when we are away from home. The Hot Logic makes is super easy to feed the kids in the car.

There are even some Zero Prep meals that we use when we need a quick meal with the Hot Logic Mini. You know that I love to talk about road trips and planning trips. This will save you a lot of money if you use this for your meals.

I have been eyeing the larger family sized Hot Logic and I think that would be great for pot luck, shared meals and getting lunch prepped for my family, but I have not tried it.

I have packed mac and cheese for my family in the Hot Logic and I was so excited about it, I launched a YouTube video about it.

Consider grabbing a small one for your family, or if you want to make me jealous, grab the family sized one. It is so sleek. They are awesome.
